Biography
Angela R. Mace (PhD, Duke University) writes on the sibling composers Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel and Felix Mendelssohn, nineteenth-century piano music and German art song, and issues of gender, society, and kinship. She ventures into the 20th century with work on Felix Mendelssohn's legacy in Great Britain and Germany through WWI and WWII, and Alexander Zemlinsky.
Mace is the author of the article on Fanny Hensel in Grove Music Online/Oxford Music Online, co-editor of Mendelssohn Perspectives (Ashgate, 2012), and has chapters in collections including Women and the Nineteenth-Century Lied (Ashgate, 2015), and Rethinking Mendelssohn (Oxford University Press, 2020). She appears in the documentary film FANNY: The Other Mendelssohn (2023).
Publications appear under the names Angela R. Mace or Angela Mace Christian.
